In 1992, Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard's journey to professional success began in 1999 when she was offered a position at the vessel F/V Sunset. It is a 65-foot halibut boat was turned to a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn. He has been fishing commercially for more than twenty years. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999. The two have joined in fighting for their company. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of renewable seafood resources. In 2007, the mother to two kids Bella age 3 and Andre 1 Bossard before returning to her home in Philadelphia, opened a direct wholesale distribution of seafood named Otolith. In 2007, Bossard, mother to two kids Bella aged 3 and Andre 1, and returning to Philadelphia from her native Canada, opened Otolith as a direct market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard and their son Andre and Isabella, her daughter Isabella are scheduled to return home to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the harvest of wild salmon. They use hooks and line to capture their salmon after which they join Aritan to market their products to local processors for a period of two months. Then they continue to increase their direct seafood market through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
